Daily Craig: Post fireworks

I have never been a huge fan of fireworks shows. As a little kid I was scared to death of the fire truck siren. I also was scared of Santa but that is for another season. I have often been scared of one run leads by baseball teams I am hoping will win. The Astros scared me yesterday but they got through it and so did I.

I thought Olympian Simone Biles was terrific throwing out the first pitch. She is a gymnast for those who don't know. She did a flip and then threw a pretty good rise ball to the catcher. The catcher was really a pitcher. Scott Feldman drew the duty of catching the first pitch on the 4th. Sometimes rookies get stuck with that job but not when an Olympian is on the hill. In this case, his catch got more TV TIME than any game he's pitched in this season.

The Astros are four games into a ten game home stand leading to the All Star break. Jose Altuve will start at second for the A.L. The rest of the guys who make the two teams will be announced at 6 p.m. Tuesday. This home stand is a BIG DEAL for obvious reasons. Take care of Seattle and then Oakland while slowly eating into the Rangers lead is the plan. Easy to say. Not easy to pull off.

I AM HOPING not to sweat out too many one run leads, but having one more is all that's needed in the end. As the old saying goes "they just ask how, not how many". Don't Google who made that saying famous. I think I just made it up.

Gotta go as I just saw Santa riding on a fire truck.
