Dwight Howard opts out of contract for upcoming season, becomes free agent

HOUSTON – Dwight Howard has opted out of his contract with the Houston Rockets, according to multiple sources.

He declined a $23 million player option for the upcoming season.

Howard enters free agency at the age of 30.
