"I am thrilled to be a part of it," Smith told KPRC-TV in Houston.  " This a great brand of baseball with tremendous talent .  They've done it the right way and I can't wait.  This will be a big success in this community."

The Skeeters, who will make their debut on Thursday at their brand new Constellation Field , are members of the Atlantic League.  The Skeeters also have longtime baseball man and friend of Smith's,  Deacon Jones on their organizational team that work daily with Skeeter's President Matt O'Brien.

The Skeeters opener against York, Pa. is a sellout on Thursday. The stadium, with standing room only, will seat 7 thousand.
