Woman, firefighter hospitalized after blaze in Texas City

TEXAS CITY, Texas – A firefighter and a woman have been hospitalized after a house fire in Texas City.

The fire started at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday at a house in the 2900 block of 14th Avenue.

The Texas City Fire Department said heavy flames were coming from the residence when they arrived.

A woman inside the house suffered third-degree burns and smoke inhalation, according to officials. The woman was transferred to the University of Texas Medical Branch by LifeFlight.

A firefighter suffered burns to his shoulder and was also hospitalized.

Authorities said the first fire hose was lost in the blaze, and a second fire truck had to bring a new one

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
