Two Precinct 6 deputy constables face tampering charges

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Two Harris County Precinct 6 deputy constables are off the job, indicted for tampering with government records.

A four week-long Internal Affairs investigation found several instances where the deputies lied about what they were doing and where they were.

After getting a tip, investigators followed deputies Ana-Alicia Aguillon and Omar Hernandez to see what they were really doing when they were supposed to be patrolling Precinct 6.

In one instance, investigators said one of the deputies was caught hanging out in the lobby of a downtown-area hotel watching a sporting event. Another deputy was caught hanging out at home.

However, on their time sheets for those days the deputies gave notes detailing the police work they were doing during those times.

When confronted with the evidence, Precinct 6 Constable Heliodoro Martinez said both deputies lied.

"I've told all of them that we can work through just about anything as long as you're honest with me. If you're not honest with me, then I can't help you," Martinez said.

Authorities said Hernandez and Aguillon were contract deputies assigned to Contract and Support Services Command.

Precinct 6 has a history of controversy. Martinez was appointed in November to replace Victor Trevino, who resigned after pleading guilty to charges of financial misconduct. Martinez said he wants residents to have a precinct they can trust and said bad behavior will not be tolerated.
