HOUSTON – A United Airlines jet flying from London Heathrow Airport to Houston possibly was hit by lightning, according to United spokeswoman Karen May.

United Flight UA5 was an hour into its flight when the plane was possibly struck by lighting, May said. The plane was flying from London Heathrow Airport to George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston and had left London at 5:45 p.m. The plane turned back, landing safely at Heathrow. The plane was checked out by a ground maintenance  crew and again departed back to Houston, May said.
