HPD: Man beat girlfriend's child for not doing homework, counting to 100
Police say he used a belt to beat the 7-year-old girl
Steven Halidy, 29, is charged with injury to a child.
HOUSTON – A man is accused of beating his girlfriend's child with belt because she would not do her homework and count to 100.
According to court documents, on February 28 the 7-year-old girl was at her northwest Houston home and got in trouble for not counting to 100. She told police that Steven 0. Halidy, her mother's boyfriend, whipped her with a belt on her buttocks, back and hand.

Police say Halidy told them that the girl was not doing her homework and not listening so he took her to a back room and hit her at least five times with a leather belt. According to police, Halidy admitted to them that he was trying to teach her a lesson.
Court documents state the girl had extensive bruising to her back side and lower back, and considerable swelling and bruising to her hand.
Halidy, 29, is charged with injury to a child.
