Hot temps return Sunday, Memorial Day after Saturday night storm

HOUSTON – Strong thunderstorm cell moved east and dropped heavy rain, lots of lightning and quarter-size hail Saturday night.

Bush Intercontinental Airport delayed several flights due to severe weather and hail in the Houston area.

The storm moved into eastern Harris County.

Another isolated storm flared up near the Gulf Freeway, however, the rest of the area did see storms for the remainder of the afternoon.

Multiple areas saw power outages as a result of the storms, knocking power out for 70,000 customers at its peak, according to CenterPoint Energy. Roughly 6,000 customers remained without power Sunday afternoon.

Temperatures are expected to rise for Sunday and Memorial Day.
