Former Missouri City officer found guilty in 2024 crash that killed 3, including mother and her son

The officer faces up to 99 years in prison

MISSOURI CITY, Texas – A former Missouri City Officer, Blademir Viveros, has been convicted on three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon by a public servant for a car crash that killed three people, including a mother and her son, in June 2024.

What Happened?

In June 2024, the Missouri City Police Department received a call around 8 p.m. about an active robbery at an ATM in the 1600 block of Cartwright Road.

Police said a man approached a victim while armed with a handgun and demanded money. The robbery suspect fled in a silver Honda after stealing $200 from the victim. The robbery victim was following the suspect while on the phone with dispatch.

According to police, Viveros, who was in a 2021 marked Missouri City Police SUV, was responding to the robbery, possibly driving over the speed limit.

At some point, Viveros crashed into a 2005 Toyota Corolla that was coming out of a Dollar Tree parking lot.

The investigation determined Viveros did not have the emergency lights of his vehicle turned on at the time of the crash.

Angela Stewart and her 16-year-old son, Mason Stewart, who were in the Toyota, were killed in the crash.

A man was also found in the back of Viveros’s patrol car after the crash, in which he later died.

Vivero is set to enter the sentencing phase on Tuesday; he faces up to 99 years in prison.
