Man with earpiece caught on camera in Sugar Land burglary

Mobile phone earpiece leads police to believe accomplice might be involved

SUGAR LAND, Texas – Police in Sugar Land are looking for a man who stole cash and jewelry from a home while wearing a mobile phone earpiece, which makes detectives think he had an accomplice, officers said Monday.

The burglary took place July 3 in the 1800 block of Hickory Court, according to a news release from the Sugar Land Police Department. The man was caught on surveillance video.

The homeowners said they left their house about 9:45 a.m. and locked all the doors but didn’t activate the security alarm. When the woman came home about 7:30 p.m., she found a bedroom window had been smashed and the room was in disarray, police said.

Although the alarm hadn't been set, security cameras at the house showed the man and a dark-colored, four-door sedan that police said was likely involved in the burglary.

The car drove up and down the street several times between 11:13 a.m. and 12:40 p.m., officers said.

Anyone with information should call the Sugar Land Police Department at 281-275-2540 or Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at 281-342-TIPS (8477).
