According to authorities, Justin Levi Burns, 33, sexually abused a child with autism when the victim was between the ages of 4 and 6. The victim, who testified in court, is now 9.

Authorities said Burns traveled outside of Texas to Colorado during the investigation. Investigators tracked Burns to Colorado, where he was arrested.

The jury heard testimony from a Children's Safe Harbor forensic professional who initially interviewed the victim, two Memorial Hermann Hospital forensic medical nurses and two Houston Department of Public Safety Crime Lab DNA analysts.

The DNA analysts said they collected evidence that indicated sexual abuse.

"The jurors let it be known that our community will not tolerate those who sexually abuse our children," Special Victims Division Chief Nancy Hebert said. "The jury also reinforced that we will believe our children when the selfish desire of a perpetrator steals the innocence of a child."
