Death investigation underway in east Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY – Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a young man whose body was found in his east Harris County home.

Authorities said the victim's body was found around 9 a.m. Friday inside his home located in the 7300 block of Beaumont Highway near Ivydale Drive.

Investigators have not released the name of the victim, but said he was in his 20s. Officials told Local 2 he was shot at least one time.

Authorities said the victim may have called his brother after he had been shot. His brother arrived at the home shortly before 9 a.m. and found the victim on the floor.

A neighbor told Local 2's Mary Benton that around 8:45 a.m., she saw the brother go inside the house and come out screaming the victim's name.

Investigators have not said if they found signs of forced entry or if a violent struggle took place.

Authorities took the brother to the Harris County Sheriff's Office for questioning, but he is not considered a suspect.

Investigators spent most of the day walking through the neighborhood talking to people who live in the area.

Residents said this incident has left them shaken and worried about their own safety.
