Bus driver says school bus had engine problems

School bus caught fire Wednesday in front of Quail Valley Elementary

MISSOURI CITY, Texas – One day after a Fort Bend ISD school bus caught fire outside Quail Valley Elementary, the bus driver who says she reported problems with that same bus on Friday spoke to Local 2 News.

Sandra Edwards Richardson said she was off work Tuesday when the fire happened.

A representative with Fort Bend ISD told Local 2 News while the district is inspecting buses, none were taken off the road Wednesday in the aftermath of the fire.

Fort Bend ISD's director of operations said he could not comment further on the bus driver's statement because the district is launching an investigation.

The Missouri City fire marshal's office is leading that investigation.
