HOUSTON – Bond has been denied for now on a second murder charge for an El Salvador teen accused of killing two different young people about eight months apart.
Judge Hazel Jones on Thursday denied bond for Jefferson Velasquez, an 18-year-old from El Salvador just charged with a new murder this week for the April fatal shooting of 27-year-old Noah Ramirez outside Diosa, a Midtown nightclub.

Houston Police investigated the April shooting, but Velasquez had been in custody since June, when he was arrested and charged in a Harris County Sheriff’s Office murder case involving the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Angel Garcia at an August 2025 large house party in East Harris County.
During his court appearance Thursday, Velasquez appeared to smirk at people he knew in the courtroom.
It’s not clear exactly what evidence investigators have tying Velasquez to the two shootings, although both happened during what police described as fights at large gatherings.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office said a hearing has now been set for Aug. 10, when prosecutors plan to argue to hold Velasquez in jail indefinitely pending trial.
An appointed defense attorney representing Velasquez told KPRC 2 News on Wednesday he’s not commenting on the new murder case and is still waiting on evidence to be shared by prosecutors.
Records show Velasquez has an ICE hold.
