2 people shot during parking lot takeover near Eastex Freeway and Little York

Investigators said the two people are believed to be in their 20s

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after two people were shot during a parking lot takeover in northeast Harris County early Friday morning.

Deputies were called around 1:25 a.m. Friday to the area of Eastex Freeway and Little York Road after reports of a shooting.

According to investigators, the shooting happened in the parking lot shared by a Walgreens, a bank and a Home Depot, where authorities said a street takeover was taking place.

Investigators said two people, both believed to be in their early 20s, were struck by gunfire.

One of the victims ran to a nearby Whataburger in the shopping center to seek help. The second victim drove away from the scene before stopping at another location, where EMS transported that person to a local hospital.

Authorities have not released the conditions of either victim.

Investigators have not said what led to the shooting or whether any suspects have been identified.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact HCSO or Crime Stoppers.
