MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – A student is accused of assaulting a teacher at Splendora High School, prompting a temporary lockdown Thursday morning, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said deputies and detectives with the Major Crimes Unit responded to the campus to secure the scene and begin an investigation.
School officials initially placed the campus on lockdown. The status has since been downgraded to a “secure hold,” meaning classes continue but hallways are kept clear while the investigation remains ongoing.
Officials said the incident involved a physical altercation between a student and a staff member. No students were injured, and authorities said there is no ongoing threat to the campus or the public.
Splendora ISD police and district administrators remain on-site.
Parents gathered outside the school as they waited to pick up their children. Authorities said students would be released to parents from the back of the campus.
District officials said they will communicate directly with parents regarding any updates or further instructions.
The investigation remains active.
