2 deputies injured trying to arrest burglary suspect in southwest Houston

HOUSTON – Two Harris County Precinct 5 deputies were injured Tuesday while trying to arrest a suspect who was found breaking into vehicles.

Deputies responded to a burglary call in the 5400 block of Red Start Street around 7 a.m. and found a man trying to break into vehicles.

When deputies attempted to detain the man, investigators say one of the deputies was hit in the head, causing her to fall on her partner. The other deputy’s hands then got caught in his handcuffs, and the suspect was able to get away.

Both deputies have since been transported to the hospital.
