HOUSTON – KPRC 2 and American Furniture Warehouse are surprising 20 deserving high school seniors with $2,500 scholarships in 2026. All students selected for scholarships have been nominated by their high schools.
Milby High School senior Audisie Giron is the twelfth KPRC 2-American Furniture Warehouse Senior Scholarship winner from the class of 2026. Milby High School is part of the Houston Independent School District.
Giron stands out academically, ranked third out of 483 students in her graduating class. She is co-captain of the varsity volleyball team. Her activities also include National Honor Society, History Honor Society, Name that Book, and Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA)/Future Health Professionals.
Working toward her future in health care, Giron volunteers at The Woman’s Hospital of Texas. She is also active in keeping her school eco-friendly through Peace Club, where she participates in school-wide recycling and gardening programs.
In college, Giron will pursue a Nursing degree, inspired by her grandmother’s health journey and the impact it had on her family. Giron tells KPRC 2, “My career goals focus on helping communities who cannot speak for themselves. It would be an immense blessing to utilize what I am given and translate it into working for underserved clinics, and providing others the advocate my family once needed.”
Giron credits her mother’s support and sacrifice in helping her and her siblings reach their potential. She hopes to attend The University of Texas in Austin.
