HOUSTON – The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) says the suspect in the hit-and-run collision that led to Fort Bend County sheriff’s deputy Kenneth Lewis’ death has been taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Dennis Arguello-Acosta was arrested by federal authorities and may now face state charges, according to DHS.
The agency says the FBI received an anonymous tip on Mar. 11 and ICE with coordination from the FBI was able to identify Arguello-Acosta and the location of his residence.
Deputy Kenneth Lewis was hit on February 21 when he stopped to help a stranded motorist on I-10 near Eldridge Parkway. While he was assisting, he was struck by a passing vehicle which fled the scene.
