HARRIS COUNTY – A driver narrowly avoided injury Sunday night after a tree fell onto a vehicle in northeast Harris County as winds began picking up across the area.
According to deputies with the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office, the incident occurred in the 12900 block of Belgrave Drive. Deputies were called to the scene after receiving reports that a tree had fallen onto an occupied vehicle.
Authorities said deputies arrived quickly and worked with Precinct 3 County Maintenance crews to remove the tree from the car safely.
Fortunately, the driver was not hurt. No injuries were reported.
The incident happened as strong winds moved into the Houston area Sunday night ahead of a cold front, which brought gusty conditions across parts of Harris County.
Officials remind drivers to use caution during windy weather, especially when traveling near trees, power lines, or debris that could fall into the roadway.
