HOUSTON, Texas – A 17-year-old was shot while walking in a southwest Houston neighborhood Tuesday night, according to police.
Officers with the Houston Police Department responded around 8:48 p.m. to the 5800 block of Glenmont Drive after reports of a shooting.
Investigators say the teenager told officers he was walking near the intersection of Renwick Drive and Glenmont Drive when he suddenly heard multiple gunshots. The teen said he was struck once in the back and ran down Glenmont Drive looking for help.
A nearby resident helped the teen by calling the police.
The teen was later transported to a hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition.
A witness in the area told investigators they heard about 10 gunshots near the intersection, but they were unable to determine where the shots were coming from.
At this time, no suspect information has been released, and investigators are still working to determine what led to the shooting.
