HOUSTON – A man was killed Wednesday after he was hit by a train along railroad tracks parallel to Hirsch Road in northeast Houston, according to police.
Houston police said officers responded to a train fatality call around 12:58 a.m. in the 11300 block of Hirsch Road.
Investigators say the victim is an adult male believed to be around his late 30s or about 40 years old. His identity has not been confirmed.
According to authorities, the train was traveling southbound when the conductor reported seeing something suddenly appear on the tracks and believed the train had hit something.
The train came to a stop, and crew members went back to investigate. Police said the crew was initially unsure whether they had struck an animal or something else before discovering the man’s body on the tracks.
