CYPRESS, Texas – A Cypress man is facing felony charges after authorities say he threatened to detonate explosive devices and carry out a mass shooting.
According to Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman’s Office, deputies responded on March 9, 2026, to the 21900 block of Bronze Leaf Drive following a bomb threat call. Investigators say the caller claimed he planned to detonate explosives and conduct a mass shooting.
When deputies arrived at the home, they detained Jeremiah Chavez. A search of the residence led investigators to discover several rounds of ammunition, an AR-style rifle and bomb-making components, authorities said.
Officials say the items were recovered with assistance from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad, which helped safely remove the materials from the home.
Chavez was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail on a charge of unlawful possession of components of explosives, a felony offense.
Authorities say additional details about his bond and court appearance had not been set at the time of the arrest. The investigation remains ongoing.
