Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton took a dig at Grammy-winning rapper and songwriter Cardi B after she announced her endorsement of U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett, who is running in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate.
In an Instagram post, Cardi B used her large social media platform to encourage fans to vote for Crockett in the Texas primary elections.

“We need Jasmine Crockett to win. She is running for U.S. Senate and if you want somebody to fight for you right, if you want somebody to fight for your community, if you want somebody who’s going to go up there and represent you and represent your issues, please vote for my sister Jasmine Crockett,” Cardi B said. “Because one thing about it, she’s going to fight her best. She’s going to fight whoever she has to so your voice and your problems can be heard. Vote right now. This counts so much. Vote right now.”
After Paxton caught wind of the endorsement, he took to X to voice his support for Cardi B’s rival and longtime adversary, Grammy-nominated singer, rapper and songwriter Nicki Minaj.

The two rappers have had a nearly decade-long feud, including public exchanges and social media back-and-forths.
Nicki Minaj has recently expressed support for the Republican Party and former President Donald Trump, at one point referring to herself as his “number one fan.”
Cardi B has not responded to the Texas attorney general’s remarks.
