Search underway for driver who hit and killed man while crossing street in Third Ward

Houston police are searching for the driver accused of running over and killing a man who was crossing the street in Third Ward.

Houston police responded to the deadly scene on Scott and Anita Street around 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

Police said a woman who also hit the man called 911 and said he was already lying in the road when she hit him. The woman did stay on the scene until police arrived, and investigators do not believe she is a suspect.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call police.
