HFD fighting wildfire in northeast Houston

The Houston Fire Department Wildland Division is in the Greens Bayou and John Ralston Road area battling a wildfire.

In an X post tonight officials say about 175 acres have burned and the fire is 30% contained.

Officials ask everyone to avoid the area.

As of now, they say no homes are in danger but they want to residents in Verde Forest, east of Thorn Street, and north of Caddo Road to be prepared to leave if conditions change. Residents in the area will also see and smell smoke.

HFD will remain on scend until the fire is totally contained.
