The incident reportedly happened on Feb. 10 and involved James Madison High School in Southwest Houston.

In court records, an HISD officer said officials were notified via campus radio about three masked men who were trying to enter the school with handguns at around 3:30 p.m.

A member of the school’s faculty also told officers he saw the armed men trying to enter the school, documents state. Court records say multiple 911 calls were received from parents and nearby with matching accounts.

Upon arrival, the officer reported seeing the three males running northbound towards a nearby bayou. Witnesses reportedly saw the teens hiding between parked vehicles. Authorities say the suspects had removed their outer clothes in attempts to conceal their identities.

Based on descriptions from witnesses, officers located and detained Miles and one of the other two suspects without incident. The second suspect hasn’t been identified, and it’s unclear whether or not the third suspect was also detained.

A search of both individuals was conducted, and no weapons were recovered, according to records.

Due to the severity of the incident, the school was placed in secure mode for a short time. The scene was later cleared without further incident.

If convicted, the charge carries a punishment range of 180 days to two years in a state jail facility and a possible fine of up to $10,000.
