Mother says altered image displayed at Splendora High basketball game led to fights, viral rumors

What began as a high school rivalry basketball game ended with police breaking up fights outside the gym.

The mother, Megan Trahan, said the incident started hours earlier with an altered image of her that was displayed inside the stands.

Megan Trahan said an innocent mother-and-son photo was digitally manipulated and printed by students during a Jan. 27 game at Splendora High School.

“This is just another situation swept under the rug,” Trahan said in an interview.

Trahan shared the original image with KPRC 2. It is a professional mother-and-son photo shoot featuring her and her son, Nakaius Adams.

Trahan and Adams said someone digitally altered that photo to make it appear as if she was bending over in front of a Splendora High School coach.

KPRC 2 has blurred the altered image to protect the privacy of the coach and students involved and because it depicts Trahan in a degrading pose.

Adams, who attends West Fork High School in New Caney ISD, said he first learned about the image while he was at school.

“So they’re like, ‘Yo, you got to go see this,’” Adams said. “They show me the screenshot of it… our football picture cropped out in front of their coach like she was bending over their coach.”

That night, Adams said he saw students holding up printed posters of the altered image inside the gym.

“I just see like five posters of her… Y’all really took the time out y’all’s day just to post this, just to make a poster,” he said.

Trahan said she was alerted from the stands as it was happening.

“It’s some kids… holding up pictures of you over there, bent over,” she said. “And I was like, ‘Oh my God.’”

Trahan said the atmosphere inside the gym shifted by halftime. She alleges racial remarks were directed at her family and others in attendance.

“Take the trash back. You shouldn’t have brought the trash here,” she recalled hearing.

By the end of the night, fights broke out outside the gym.

The Splendora Police Department confirmed in a written statement that officers assisted the Splendora ISD Police Department following “multiple disturbances” toward the end of the basketball game. Once the situation was brought under control, all information was turned over to the district police department for follow-up.

So far, authorities have not confirmed whether anyone has been arrested or cited.

Trahan said the situation escalated the following morning when the altered image began circulating on social media.

“To wake up and find out that I am viral online for an imaginary OnlyFans, that’s where it got sticky for me,” she said.

Trahan said she does not have an OnlyFans account and that the rumors implied by the altered image have harmed her reputation and affected her children.

“That one prank or whatever y’all allow to happen in y’all’s school is ruining my life,” she said. “I don’t want an apology. I want accountability.”

KPRC 2 contacted Splendora ISD for clarification about when administrators first became aware of the altered image, whether it was printed on campus, and how it was handled in real time.

In an initial response, the district declined an on-camera interview and said it could not share additional details beyond a written statement, citing student privacy laws and an ongoing review.

In a later written response, the district confirmed the incident was “reviewed and addressed in accordance with district policy” and that students who acted inappropriately “received consequences consistent with that policy.” The district declined to provide specific details about those consequences.

The district also said it has implemented “enhanced procedures at school-sponsored events,” including increased administrator presence and additional law enforcement support.

After further follow-up questions from KPRC 2 regarding timelines and specific actions taken during the game, the district said it had no additional information to provide beyond previous statements.

Because Adams attends West Fork High School in New Caney ISD, KPRC 2 also reached out to that district.

In a written statement, New Caney ISD confirmed that Adams is a student in its district and said it is aware of the allegations. The district said it is cooperating as appropriate but declined to comment further on student matters, citing privacy laws.

Splendora ISD Police are still investigating the case. It remains unclear whether any criminal charges will be filed.

Trahan says she continues to seek clarity about how the altered image was handled once it appeared inside the gym and online.

“Y’all dropped the ball,” she said. “Y’all failed tremendously.”

For now, the districts maintain that the matter was addressed under policy. The family says questions remain about what happened in real time and how the altered image spread so quickly inside a school setting.
