Parents in Fort Bend ISD could learn more about potential school closures during district meeting

FORT BEND. Texas – Families across Fort Bend ISD may soon learn whether several campuses could be closed, as district leaders prepare to discuss potential changes during meetings scheduled for Monday evening.

The district has called a special meeting for 5 p.m., followed by a school board meeting at 6 p.m., where officials are expected to share results from a recent community survey focused on possible school closures and rezoning options.

Last month, Fort Bend ISD asked parents and community members to review proposed boundary changes involving several elementary schools.

Some of the scenarios presented could lead to the closure of multiple campuses, including Austin Parkway, Dulles, Fleming, Glover, Mission West, Ridgegate, and Sugar Mill elementary schools.

District officials say the proposed changes are part of a broader effort to balance student enrollment, use school facilities more efficiently, and develop long-term plans aimed at better serving students and families.

Parents say they appreciate being asked for input, but remain concerned about the process.

Some question why certain schools were selected for potential closure and worry that decisions may already be underway behind closed doors.

Monday night’s meetings could provide the clearest picture yet of what changes may be coming for Fort Bend ISD families.
