HOUSTON – A fight outside the XO club on Washington Avenue turned violent just after midnight, and one man was left in critical condition, Houston police said.
Witnesses told investigators the confrontation started as a physical fight and then escalated when one person pulled out a gun and fired. Officers who arrived at the scene found an adult man who had been shot.
Houston Fire rushed him to a hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Video from the scene shows how close the gunfire came to nearby workers and customers. In the footage, a bullet can be seen striking a window across the street, sending people running for cover.
“All the people came out running everywhere,” said Giovanni Lucas, a witness.
Police said the shooter was gone by the time officers arrived. No suspect information has been released.
Detectives are asking anyone with video from the area to contact the Houston Police Department and turn it over to investigators. You can also contact Crime Stoppers of Houston at (713) 222-TIPS.
