HOUSTON – Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a possible murder-suicide after a shooting in northeast Harris County that left one woman dead and a man hospitalized.
The incident happened at a home on Cicada Lane near John F. Kennedy Boulevard.
According to investigators, deputies were called to the scene after reports that a man had barricaded himself inside a bedroom with a woman believed to be his girlfriend.
Authorities say several family members, including children, were inside the home when the situation unfolded.
Deputies were able to safely remove everyone else from the house before attempting to make contact with the man inside the locked bedroom.
SWAT was eventually called to the scene and forced entry into the room.
Inside, investigators found the woman dead and the man suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. The man was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to survive.
Records show deputies had previously responded to the same address for a call involving terroristic threats about a year ago.
Homicide and crime scene investigators remain at the home as the investigation continues.
Deputies say both the man and woman lived at the residence. No charges have been filed at this time.
