HOUSTON – A Harris County Sheriff’s Office sergeant who was arrested earlier this week on state charges, has now also been charged federally.
On Monday, Jan. 26, HCSO Sergeant John Fedrick Black, 46, was arrested on child exploitation charges in Tallahassee, Florida. The Leon County Sheriff’s Office, located in Florida, issued the warrant, and Black was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail.

According to a news release from the Leon County Sherriff’s Office, earlier this month, the departments trafficking department started talking with Black on an online chat platform while posing as a 13-year-old child.
According to court documents, the conversation began on Jan. 12, when Black allegedly asked the undercover officer’s age.
Black: " How old are you?"
The undercover agent: “13 *Smiling face emoji*
Black: Oh wow lol. I’m 46. More than twice your age lol. Not gonna liie though. From what I can see, you look pretty hot.
The undercover agent: “Oh really I didn’t know it thought u were like 30
***Black sent an image of himself balling his fist in a flexing stance with only underwear and his private area partially visible through the thing underwear material with his face visible***
During those conversations, according to deputies, Black continued to communicate with the person after being told their age, and even sent several pictures and a video of himself to the undercover agent.
The Undercover agent: “R u embarrassed of me?”
Black: LOL no. 13 years olds walking into a 46 year olds house looks suspicious though
Black was subsequently charged with one count of distribution of obscene material to a minor, one county of unlawful use of a computer to seduce, solicit or lure a child and one count of unlawful use of a two-way communication device.
Further investigation, according the LCSO, revealed that Black also conversed with other minors on the same platform. He will possible face additional charges.
Black is set for another federal hearing on Feb. 3.
