Private jet with ties to Houston crashes at Maine airport

BANGOR, Maine – A private business jet carrying eight people crashed on takeoff from Bangor International Airport in Maine Sunday, sources tell NBC News.

The airport confirmed an incident on its Facebook page Sunday evening and asked people to avoid the airport and that the runway was closed.

It is unclear if there were any injuries or fatalities at this time.

According to CNN, the Bombardier Challenger 650 business jet is registered to a limited liability corporation in Houston, citing federal records.

NBC Boston reports the crash happened around 7:45 p.m. ET as a snowstorm was hitting New England.
