Houston ISD is monitoring an approaching winter weather system that could impact the Houston area this weekend, prompting schedule changes for several athletic and academic events across the district.
District officials say they are closely watching the forecast and will continue to update families as conditions develop.
Due to the potential for winter weather, HISD announced several changes to upcoming events:
All boys and girls varsity basketball games originally scheduled for Friday will now be played Thursday, Jan. 22.
All Saturday varsity basketball games will be played Friday, Jan. 23.
All subvarsity boys and girls basketball games scheduled for Friday are canceled and will not be rescheduled.
All varsity soccer matches scheduled for Saturday have been moved to Thursday, Jan. 22.
All varsity wrestling events are canceled and will not be rescheduled.
All remaining academic UIL events scheduled for Saturday are canceled and will not be rescheduled.
District officials say all games taking place on school campuses will be closed to spectators. Families are encouraged to check directly with coaches for updated game times and locations.
HISD is urging parents and guardians to ensure their contact information is current in ParentSquare, which the district uses to send alerts about closures, delays, or additional schedule changes.
