Former Memorial Hermann director indicted over hidden bathroom cameras

HOUSTON, Texas – The now-former Memorial Herman employee accused of installing hidden cameras in hospital bathrooms has been indicted.

On Thursday, KPRC 2 News learned that Robert Shrader, 41, of Magnolia, has been indicted by a grand jury in Montgomery County for invasive visual recording in a bathroom/dressing room.

According to the indictment, on August 26, 2025, Shrader invaded someone’s privacy without their consent by trying to videotape, broadcast, or transmit visual images of them in a bathroom or changing room.

What happened?

Last August, Shrader was arrested after allegedly installing hidden cameras in at least two bathrooms at the Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center in Montgomery County.

Engineers who were doing maintenance on the HVAC system discovered one of the cameras on August 21, 2025, and then, days later, on August 25, 2025, a second camera was found.

According to court records, the cameras had a combined 300+ image and video recordings on the memory cards.

The recordings include a video of Shrader installing the camera in the ceiling tiles of one of the bathrooms, which led to Shrader’s arrest.

According to his now-deleted LinkedIn profile, he was the Patient Care Director.

In September 2025, a $100 million class action lawsuit was filed against the hospital and Shrader.

The plaintiffs include phlebotomists, lab staff, and a medical equipment contractor who say they unknowingly used the restrooms where cameras were hidden.
