Lt. Larry Crowson with HPD said officers responded after getting a call of an assault in progress. Shortly afterwards, they got another call stating there had been a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found a man who had been shot at least once. He was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.

Crowson says the preliminary information they have was there was a man in the parking lot of the complex who was assaulting his girlfriend. Two other woman attempted to intervene and the man allegedly turned on them and began assaulting them.

At that time, Crowson said the boyfriend of one of the two woman saw what was happening and shot the man.

All the people involved are said to be in their late 20s.

It is unclear what charges anyone will face at this time. Crowson says they are contacting the department’s Major Assaults Division about a follow-up investigation.
