The wounded man has been transported to a hospital.

Police say the shooter stayed at the scene and is claiming self-defense.

According to Lt. Larry Crowson, the shooting stemmed from an argument between the two men.

Crowson says the shooter had been letting the wounded man stay at his residence for the past few days and discovered the man had been allegedly stealing items from him. The shooter found the man at the gas station where the argument happened.

The victim was shot in the leg and lower back and is expected to survive. Crowson does not believe the victim had any weapons.

Police are talking to both the shooter and the victim and once they are done, they will contact the district attorney’s office to see if any charges will be filed or if it will be referred for further investigation.
