Harris County deputies are investigating after a man and woman, in their 50s, were found dead inside a residence in the Katy area.
In a tweet, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez wrote, “@HCSOTexas deputies responded to a residence located at the 3700 block of Bent Springs Lane. Upon arrival, it was determined that an adult male and adult female were found deceased from what apparent gunshot wounds. CSI and Homicide Detectives are responding.”
According to authorities, adults inside the home heard gunshots while sleeping and called police. The man and woman were found dead in separate areas of the house, one in the main living area and the other near the kitchen.
Investigators say there are no signs of a break-in, though the investigation is ongoing. No weapons were found nearby, and officials have not yet determined whether the deaths are a double homicide or a murder-suicide.
Sheriff Gonzalez noted there have been previous calls to the residence. He also mentioned that the female victim’s partner had issues with an ex, but that person is not currently considered a suspect.
The couple were foster parents to a 7-year-old child, who is currently staying with a neighbor.
Crime scene investigators and homicide detectives remain on site as the investigation continues.
