HPD: Man with felony warrant resists arrest leading to officer shooting in Northeast Houston

HOUSTON – A man was in the hospital after an officer shooting in Northeast Houston.

Investigators said they stopped a man for a traffic violation on Tidwell Road and Lavender Street just after 1:30 a.m. Sunday and discovered he had a felony warrant.

As the officers were trying arrest him, they said he started to struggle with them.

One officer shot the man with a taser, he continued to resist before another officer opened fire.

The man was shot and taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The officers were not hurt.

Police detained two passengers in the car.

It was unclear if the suspect had a weapon.

As per HPD policy, investigators were expected to release the body camera video in the next 30 days.
