HOUSTON, Texas – MindSprout Montessori School in Spring, Texas, is gearing up for new students as the State of Texas prepares to launch the Texas School Choice Program. The program will allow eligible families to use state funds for private school tuition and homeschooling.
MindSprout Montessori is a micro-school that embraces the idea that not all students learn the same way. The school offers personalized learning plans rather than traditional grade levels.
The school was founded in 2021 by Desiree Corbin, who recognized that no two students are the same.
“We have taken the Montessori model and created something that I believe is exactly as Maria Montessori intended, which is accessible, flexible, and innovative,” said Corbin.
Instead of report cards and grades, students follow individual work blocks, participate in short one-on-one mini-lessons, and have goal check-ins in small groups.
“It’s a way of learning through hands-on experiences,” said Lisa Nantais, teacher at MindSprout. “So all of the materials are designed to provide a concrete foundation for a student as they transition to more abstract learning.”
MindSprout also offers families flexible enrollment options, including a two-day hybrid program and a four-day in-person option. They also offer rolling admission, so you don’t have to wait until the traditional beginning of the year to enroll.
Student Madelyn Harrison summed it up, saying, “They know each kid thrives in their own way. Not all the same way.”
MindSprout Montessori was recently named a 2025 Yass Prize contender, described by Corbin as the “Pulitzer of Education Innovation.” The school received $100,000 to help expand its programs.
