Possible murder under investigation after man found dead in Liverpool home, another taken into custody

LIVERPOOL, Texas – Possible murder charges are expected after a man was found dead inside a home in Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, according to the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a disturbance at a residence in the 200 block of Liverpool Spur. Upon arrival, deputies found a man lying on the ground with multiple suspected gunshot wounds and showing no signs of life.

A second man was detained at the scene, allowing Emergency Medical Services to safely enter and attempt life-saving measures. Despite those efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was later identified as Javier Martinez, 27, of Liverpool, Texas. His body was transported to the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

Sheriff’s Office investigators and forensic personnel responded to the scene and launched an active death investigation. The detained individual was later placed into custody and is expected to face murder charges.

The investigation remains ongoing.
