GALVESTON, Texas – A Galveston County teenager accused of killing her grandmother with her boyfriend’s help last year pleaded guilty before her trial began.
Jury selection for the trial of Tara King was scheduled to begin Monday, however, King pleaded guilty to a capital murder charge before the trial began, according to court records.

Tammy King’s body was found in her Bacliff home on Feb. 5, 2025. She had a gunshot wound to her head and investigators said she had been dead for several days before she was found.
Authorities believed the couple stole money from a lockbox or safe at the home, which escalated the crime to capital murder.
The two were ultimately captured in Laredo on Feb. 9 of last year.
A capital murder conviction carries an automatic life sentence without the possibility of parole.
Tara King’s boyfriend, Uriah Urick, was found guilty in Nov. 2025.
