One killed in house fire in Southeast Houston

HOUSTON – Investigators were working to determine what led to a deadly house fire in southeast Houston.

The fire started at a home on Southmont Street and Crestville Street at about 3:15 a.m. Saturday.

Police said a southeast patrol sergeant saw a house fully engulfed in flames while on routine patrol.

At the same time, neighbors called 911 for help.

Once the fire was out, firefighters said they found one person dead inside the home.

Their identity had not been determined.

Arson and homicide investigators were at the scene.
