HOUSTON – Two dogs, on the brink of death, were rescued by firefighters with the Sheldon Community Fire & Rescue from a house fire on Tuesday.

Sheldon Fire Department released video showing the intense moments.

You can see the urgency almost immediately.

Firefighters step off the truck, quickly grabbing their gear as smoke pours from the home. In the video, they force open the front door and rush inside, disappearing into thick smoke as alarms blare in the background.

Inside, crews move room to room, searching through the smoke-filled house. Then, a firefighter spots something on the floor, a dog, barely breathing.

Moments later, firefighters carry the dog out to the driveway, carefully laying it down as they begin life-saving efforts. Not long after, a second dog is also brought out of the home.

Firefighters immediately began treating them, working alongside South Lake Houston EMS.

Both dogs were revived at the scene and then transported to a veterinarian for further care.

No other details have been released, but officials say the quick actions of firefighters and EMS crews helped save the dogs’ lives.
