HUNTSVILLE, Texas – The Huntsville police officer who was severely hurt after his patrol unit was hit head-on by a suspect in a stolen vehicle is expected to move to an in-patient facility soon to start his rehab and recovery.
Officer Sean Brinson had to undergo at least five surgeries as a result of his injuries sustained on Tuesday, Dec. 16.

Brinson suffered severe internal injuries from the crash as well as injuries to his legs.
On Tuesday, the Huntsville Police Department shared an update on Brinson’s condition. They say he is in good spirits, despite having been in the hospital and mostly immobilized for the last two weeks.
The department says Brinson’s medical team is still monitoring his injuries and he should be moving to an in-patient facility soon to start rehab and recovery.
“Sean is ready for the challenge and expressed that despite the pain he’s sure to endure, he is ready to be on his feet,” the department said.
The department thanked everyone for all the support and named several organizations who have stepped up to help Officer Brinson. The department said the Police Officers Angels Foundation have reached out to help with short-term financial assistance for Brinson. The Texas Association of First Responders also made a sizeable donation to Officer Brinson and his family. Lastly. an organization called Quilts for Cops sent Sean a handmade quilt.
“These are only a few drops in the flood of support we have received for Sean and his family. To all of you that have prayed, supported, and donated, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts,” the department said.
