New HPD body cam video shows dramatic traffic stop shooting

New body camera footage offers a closer look at a Houston police shooting earlier this month. What began as a routine traffic stop for expired registration quickly escalated when the driver refused to exit the vehicle and sped off. Police say the driver fired shots during the ensuing chase before crashing near Antoine and West 34th Street. The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Jacques Otu Bassey, was hit by officers and taken to the hospital. Two women were also in the car; one was arrested on a felony warrant.


Harris County Treasurer Karla Wyatt arrested on burglary charge

Dr. Karla Wyatt, Harris County Treasurer, was arrested over the weekend and faces burglary charges for allegedly breaking into a car.
