HOUSTON – Houston police are searching for a female suspect after a woman was fatally stabbed late Friday night on the city’s east end.

The victim, a woman in her 20s, was found with a stab wound to the upper right side of her chest in the 6500 block of Navigation Boulevard near Engelke Street, according to police.

Officers responded to reports of a stabbing in progress around 9 p.m. When they arrived, they found a friend performing CPR on the victim. The wounded woman was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Investigators believe the suspect, described as a woman known to be homeless in the area, had an earlier confrontation with the victim at a nearby gas station. The fatal encounter occurred when the victim and her friend later walked into an open field and encountered the suspect again.

Police are working to determine the relationship between the women and what led to the deadly altercation.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Houston Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
