Police responded around 9:35 a.m. to a report of a “person down” at 5969 Old Spanish Trail. The caller said someone was lying face down on rocks near a body of water and was unresponsive.

The body was recovered from the bank of the bayou, not from the water itself.

An autopsy will determine the person’s identity and cause of death.

Shortly after police responded to this incident, they received a call about a second body discovered near another bayou.

So far in 2025, at least 33 bodies have been found in Harris County bayous, according to records.

Since 2017, a total of 190 people have been found dead in Houston’s bayous, according to records obtained by KPRC 2.

Nearly 40% of those deaths remain classified as “undetermined,” meaning investigators could not confirm whether they were the result of an accident, suicide, or homicide.
