There were eight people on the plane, including two pilots, according to Fullen.

The sheriff says there were burn patients on the plane that were being brought to Galveston, although he was unsure how many were burn patients.

Multiple agencies, including the U.S. Coast Guard, Texas DPS, and the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, have responded to the incident.

There is a large law enforcement and first responder presence near the base of the causeway bridge in Galveston as authorities respond.
