In a heartfelt message to the Pearland Fire Department family and the city, Chief Taylor reflected on the department’s progress, saying, “The awards, the recognition, and the respect PFD has gained locally, regionally, and nationally are a testament to all of our hard work and our ability to work as one.”

He acknowledged that the journey was not without challenges but praised the unique resilience and creativity of firefighters.

“We can take any situation, any challenge, and use our creativity to solve the problem. Very few professions can relate to this,” he said. “We win at all costs, despite the odds, because of hard work, ingenuity, and teamwork...family.”

Chief J. shared that after many discussions with his wife, Staci, he felt confident that the department is positioned for continued success without his direct guidance.

“She told me, ‘just pull off the band-aid, babe.’ Staci is never wrong in times like these,” he said.

He expressed deep gratitude for his time with the department and the community.

“My time here has been remarkable and the people of this department and our city have made a lasting impact on our lives,” Chief J. said. “To the members of the Pearland Fire Department, I love you all, and I can honestly say that my job here is now complete. Keep raising the bar, stay safe, and always remember—PFD is family.”

A retirement celebration will be held at Pearland Fire Station 4 on Jan. 30 at 10 a.m.
